Summary: Colour Management is a crucial aspect of the modern digital workflow, ensuring that colours are consistent and accurate across various devices and media. In this two-part seminar series, we will delve into the fundamentals of colour management in Part One, and then move on to advanced applications and challenges in Part Two.

Colour Management 101: Part One will cover essential concepts, such as TVI (Tonal Value Increase) and G7, and Process Control, which are vital for achieving consistent and predictable results in print production. Participants will also receive an introduction to proofing and how it can help ensure that the final output matches the original design intent. The session will provide a comprehensive foundation for colour management, which will prepare attendees for the more complex topics covered in Part Two.

Applied Colour Management our second session, you’ll dive deeper into colour management techniques and strategies for specialty proofing, colour conversions, brand colour matching, digital vs conventional colour management challenges, wide-format colour management, and quality assurance. You’ll learn how to tackle advanced colour management issues in print production, such as managing colour for different substrates and devices, and using the latest colour management techniques to achieve optimal results. With this seminar, attendees will gain the knowledge and expertise required to deliver high-quality and consistent results in their print and digital work, while avoiding costly mistakes and workflow delays.

Birgit Plautz is Manager of Technical Services for GMG Americas, a German-headquartered company providing color management solutions. She represents GMG at industry events and organizations throughout North and Latin America. Before moving to the U.S. in 2011, she spent five years in Technical Development at GMG headquarters. Ms. Plautz started her career in the printing industry with seven years as a Media Designer in a global acting prepress house, where she also focused on packaging and catalog creations. Her following time in R&D for Heidelberg Printing Machines and her Masters work in Printing Technologies from Stuttgart Media University rounded out her education and provided a strong spring-board into digital color management.
